Such a good weekend. Shannon + I went and stayed with Black Jaq at the farm she lives at part time. It’s such a big property with lots of mumma cows + baby cows + there’s this really pretty billabong that we swam in + it joins onto a river that was lined with wild blackberries (so yummy!) + I found lots of bones (vertebrae, ribs, jaw bones) + we saw a fire on a property nearby. Jaq is staying in the best caravan too, so big + old school.

I feel so happy and refreshed after a weekend away from this miserable place/melbourne.

GOING BUSH.

Supposedly heading to Toolangi today to spend a few days helping out with blockading. But maybe it’ll be tmrw, dunno, we’ve got an unreliable ride but preferrably now.

Pretty excited because I’ll be getting out of the city for a few days and doing something I’ve been interested in/wanting to do for some time now. And I’m going without Shannon which will be good for me, my independence, which I barely have a grip on most days. (No he’s not controlling, I’m just lacking in that department)

But mostly things are just getting a bit much for me here. I need to escape being couped up with a bunch of intense and emotional people who all try to stop each other from falling apart, while barely keeping it together themselves. A sometimes vices become vice grips, and the people you know aren’t even those people, and that confidence that they have and you want isn’t even real, and it’s all just too much to bare. It’s too much of a head fuck for such sensitive minded specimens like myself.

A man who assisted in autopsies in a big urban hospital, starting in the mid-1950s, describes the many deaths from botched abortions that he saw. “The deaths stopped overnight in 1973.” He never saw another in the 18 years before he retired. “That,” he says, “ought to tell people something about keeping abortion legal.

read this article, it’s 100% incredible.

Trigger Warning: Article describes molestation by a backalley abortion provider.

Roe V Wade closed off entire wings of hospitals. Those wings were full of women and children dying from the complications of back alley abortions. Roe closed them down. No more people were dying from coat hangers. And they won’t.

I was drawn to all the wrong things: I liked to drink, I was lazy, I didn’t have a god, politics, ideas, ideals. I was settled into nothingness; a kind of non-being, and I accepted it. I didn’t make for an interesting person. I didn’t want to be interesting, it was too hard. What I really wanted was only a soft, hazy space to live in, and to be left alone.
